Why are satellite images so often blurry?

I tried to find a satellite image for a specific date, but a couple of services gave me weird blurry shots, and I didn’t get why, because they promised high-quality images. Maybe I set something wrong or picked the wrong option?

I thought it was always like Google Maps. Maybe it wasn’t blurry, just clouds blocking the view?

Exactly. A lot of people forget that these are satellite photos, and between the satellite and the ground, there’s at least clouds and weather isn’t always picture-perfect. I don’t know what services you used, but with Sentinel-2, the photos aren’t taken every second, it’s like every few days. I got my images through EOSDA LandViewer, picked a spot on the map and set a filter for less than 10% cloud coverage. This helped me find a clear Sentinel view with no clouds. So yeah, I think the blur you saw in your images isn’t bad quality or wrong settings, it’s probably just clouds in the way.
